iMac Microphone

My only complaint about my otherwise lovely iMac is the microphone. I talked on Ventrilo for the first time last night and I had to inch my head up to the top of the iMac in order to talk(just talking while sitting the way I usually do didn't put the sound through to Vent).

The jack next to the headphone/speaker jack is a microphone one right? Reaching the built-in is just too much of a pain in the ass.

Or is there a way to tweak it so it's more sensitive?

It picks up my voice perfectly, I do however have to get very close to prevent room echo.
