Track of the Month - September

This is a feature I do on all of the forums that I visit. You can see a back catalogue of these tracks on my (current) site, which I believe is linked to via my signature. Alternatively, they're all posted at Babylon Studio, which IS linked to in my signature.

Rod Stewart - When We Were The New Boys (from When We Were The New Boys, released 1998) (4.27MB - MP3 @ 128kbps)

Rod Stewart has had an extensive career. He made his name when singing with The Faces (previously known as The Small Faces) before becoming highly successful with quite an amazing solo career that still continues today.

This song is a brilliant example of Stewart's ability to sing great songs. He's one of my favourite vocalists and this is one of my favourites of his. Great acoustic guitars, fantastic drums and a pipe. It's a song about growing old and looking back with happiness, most likely what Stewart was feeling as he wrote it.

In short, this is one of his best original songs in recent years but one that rarely gets heard.

Other Albums
- When We Were The New Boys (1998) - Some people feel that this album is a bit thin on original songs. However, his covers of songs done by the likes of Oasis and Primal Scream just show how able Rod Stewart is.
- The Great American Songbook albums (four volumes, released 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005)
- The Best of Rod Stewart (1989)

PS - He's got a new album about to be released next month. It's back to Rock and Roll for this album, named Still the Same... Great Rock Classics of our Time Info can be found here.

He just kept talking in one long incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one had a chance to interrupt him it was really quite hypnotic.

*Officially the most likeable person since the last one*
