What! That was just asking for the show to die...

Wow. That sucks. Majorly.

Yeah the original Battlestar Galactica was supposed to be a giant race from the Cylons to find Earth, encountering other battlestars on the way (they found that the clothing department had made uniforms for atleast 4 battlestar crews). However over time the show moved more towards a star trek kind of show, finding people on planets etc, and the escape from the Cylons took second to that plot. Hence, that screwed the show to die. However the new series is taking the original plot of running to heart and using it, adding in person-to-person drama to keep it interesting instead of new planets and aliens to deal with. Personally I think the new BSG could run many, many seasons like SG-1.
