Yes, but in the DS9 Episode 'Trials and Tribble-ations', the DS9 crew went back in time to Deep Space Station K-9 because of a passanger on the station activating the Bajoran Orb of time which they has recovered, this was so the passanger could Kill Captain Kirk when Kirk was on the Station there and the Tribbles were about, wither they brought some back, or unwittingly transported them back to their timezone. becuase they got onto the Defiant. So the Tribbles were returned to the Galaxy and began to repopulate. So that should explain it all.
