Worrying a lot.

Im not sure if this is a problem or not. But lately things have been getting to me. I did think it was nerves about going to Uni. But lately I have been worried, troubled and upset for what appears to be no reason. I know I've always got something on my mind but the last few days I have felt worse.

It's been nagging for sometime. my friend Debs is like a little sister to me, She means a lot to me and I would do anything for her. I enjoy her company and I would be devastated if we stopped being friends. She managed to get a new job lately which really cheered her up as she had been getting some pressure to get one. But shes been really down because shes got loads of college coursework to do.She works until l 1pm 3 days a week and her boyfriend is apparently not helping her, not paying any attention and gives her more to do, which was sad as hes a very nice chap.

I can understand so much going on can tire you out and leave you really bothersome and really humorless. I tried consoling her but I don't feel I was able to help and lately conversation have not been as happy, funny or busy as they used to be I hope I don;t come across as selfish, but shes said on many times im very much like a big brother to her, and that we are friends for life, so this is probably brotherly instinct kicking in. but im worried to death about her and i feel helpless to try and sort it out. I really want to try and help and cheer her up. I visited on Friday and Saturday and it meant a lot to see her, to see her smiling and laughing and joking. I did not want to leave. but now im back I just can't seem to calm myself down. I probably sound silly and overbearing. But i like to be a devoted friend and I love seeing her happy. I wish I knew what I could do or at least find someway to stop myself worrying and getting all paranoid.

So yes. I don't suppose anyone has any advice for this matter. I guess this is why I have acted a bit sarcastic in recent threads because I just wanted to drum it out and push it back. But i need to find a way to confront this and beat it into submission. This place has always been somewhere I can express my feelings comfortably to trusted friends, it's always been a comfort to know this place existed, and people like Danny and Ross were around if i wanted to chat. So i feel glad to post it on here and get ti out my system. I just need some help on this matter to help me keep it into submission.

I'm not excactly good for advice but you need to get something else to preoccupy your mind.

I'd suggest getting into Runescape but for a university student that might be a VERY BAD IDEA. It really takes up your brain when you're really into it.
Unfortunately the stupidity rate is also high in it and it might annoy you to the point of making it worse.

... so it's best to just not listen to a thing I say.

hehe. I tried that with World of Warcraft but thats buried now. I would need to avoid MMORPG's. But you are quite correct about keeping my mind occupied. I give you kudos for that.

I agree with Superkid, I think he's offered the best advice. Simple but it works -- find a way to keep yourself occupied doing something that makes you happy.

Chris, if you think you're worried now, I could show/tell you some things that would make you feel infinitely worse, if only for a little perspective. Perspective is good.

For a start, if you want to help someone else you need to actually be calm yourself. Try getting some sleep yourself before going off to help.

How about, try to find something the complete opposite of what you normally do on a day to day basis, but something that still benefits you personally and socially. That way, you are doing something new that will take your mind off it, and you are having a worthwhile experience. Thats how I see it.

Well. I will say happily i took the advice and played on Rome: Total War most of the day and went down the pub with friends in the evening. Plus i also did a self FAQ on deviantart where i listened my problems and then answered them. That helped a lot. I feel much better.

Thank you all for the responses and the advice. It meant a lot to read your replies and I feel much better knowing there are people like you around, Kudos to all
