Megatsk@apple

So I decided to take the plunge on ebay and get an iPod touch, complete with the new applications. Bargain! I thought.

Wrong.

Naturally, it was second hand so I performed a restore and *poof*, all the new applications were removed, and I'm required to spend £12.99 if I ever want to see them again. It turns out that the file that unlocks the applications is locked to an ITUNES ACCOUNT instead of an iPod, which makes absolutely NO sense when you consider it's far better business to make an account holder pay twice if they have two Touches.

What makes it even more ludicrous is that all new Touches come with the applications enabled no matter how many accounts you use them with, so basically we've got sincere, nonsensical greed.

I don't want the new iPod touch programs. They're not useful enough so I'm not going to get them.

I was planning to get a second hand 4Gb Nano too on the cheap.

Ronn's experiences was exactly the kind of thing I was worried about.

Im waiting for the new version rumoured for release the end of his year with 160GB, 8 and 16 is just tooo small.

Everything on itunes that you purchase is registered to an account and not an ipod, i found it really annoying when i got my new computer but it turned out i just needed to put in the password for my account.

Why don't you email the seller and ask for his password so you can authourize the features. I doubt he would give away a password but you could reason with him!

Couldn't agree more. You should always buy direct from Apple.

Also, why on Earth would you do a restore? Of course the applications are bound to an iTunes account. Apple does everything through iTunes.

Not going to happen. They didn't do 8-16GB by choice; they can't fit more than that into a form factor that small. The next jump you see will be 32 GB.

T3 magazine did a feature on a Wifi ipod available in 160GB which was in production for xmas 08. It was a white and bigger ipod touch.

So there was a working prototype. But as its bigger then i suppose there is room for more space! They can fit a bigger HDD in the ipod touch it just takes a while to develop, its happened with all the other ipods!

Trust me. I can be classed as something of an Apple expert. I read Apple news and rumor sites on a daily basis. There is no such machine in the works at this time. Apple keeps their upcoming product line extremely secret. They would not show off a prototype of anything to a magazine or any other outside source. They do not make announcements or revelations of new products pretty much until the day of release. I would not put any stock in what that magazine is saying. It is almost certainly either a fabrication, or you have simply misunderstood the article. Some people enjoy making fake Apple product designs -- perhaps it was one of those. Either way, what you saw is not true.

Ok i trust you, but Im sure T3 wouldn't lie. If you think about it it could be an early ipod touch that they were shown and when they said it would be 160GB they got it mixed up with the news of the new 160GB classic!
