Bear in mind that the old series has 26 years of "context." The new series has demonstrated what it represents in only three so far.

Some of my favorites are:

Genesis of the Daleks
The Tomb of the Cybermen
The Talons of Weng-Chiang
Pyramids of Mars

Don't formulate your opinions based on what others tell you. Track down some DVDs and watch them for yourself.

Your opinion is invalidated right there if you didn't understand Ghost Light. Now that requires some sophistication.

I 'm not sure I like the way you keep referring to "sophistication," as though there is some sort of class war amongst Doctor Who viewers. Almost arrogant, in fact. Probably sitting there sipping your champagne snorting "Look at me, I'm so high class enjoying old Who more than I do New Who. Pish to these fools of the LCD no appreciating a mere tacky TV show."

When I want sophisticated TV I watch some detective shows, Columbo perhaps. Or maybe Jeeves and Wooster, I own the whole set. Maybe I'll join the LCD and enjoy some 80s and 90s comedy, shoot me.

I understood the storyline, albeit after watching it twice, I just didn't think some of the acting and writing was up to scratch. It was overly bloated, imo. Nothing to do with whether or not I deep fry my tracksuit.

Danny, serious question, do you think that the "unsophisticated" Who viewers of whom you speak all look like this?

Now I'm paranoid that you have some kind of camera or something in my home that you're using to watch me.

Looks do not matter -- it's the mindset that matters. However I wouldn't think it unreasonable that the mindsets would be similar between the new Who fanatics and that bunch there.

You're not the only one. I used to think it was pronounced "Sharv."

All chavs should be placed on a island, thrown into a pit, told to fight to the death, then torture the winner.

Yes, there was someone else who had that mindset. His name was Hitler.

I think Gangsta Rappers would count as Chavs.

As evidenced by the average intelligence of them when they appear on this board.

No, don't torture the winner, deport him to the States, where the "real" gangsters live, as a 'prize'. If they tried what they do in Britain in, say, Los Angeles, he'd get gunned down in 5 minutes.

Quoted for truth.

Danny, I would not recommend you try to get it, the day we understand Chavs is the day hell freezes over and Satan decides to throw a world party.

Then I do not wish to associate with either of them.
