Doctor Who - Google Page?

Yes, I use a customized Google page daily.. setup with news feeds, e-mail, all that good stuff.

I was bored and looked into all the different themes people have made, the coding really isn't that hard at all, it's just making the images blend and look right.

Rough Doctor Who idea, using some of that 3D Artwork I've been talking about.

http://www.google.com/ig?skin=http:/...693/tardis.xml

Click that, should show you the skin on your google page without applying it or anything.

It's not really a skin at all, just the images for the top/bottom and sides. What I wanted to ask is.. think I should try and make a theme like this? Not even sure if it'd fit their policy for 'real' themes, being copyrighted and all.. I just can't figure out how to make the sides scale and blend, hence the tardis grey.

Any feedback welcome, just screwing around at this point.

I actually quite like what you've done so far. It looks very smooth and professional. I think this is worth exploring as a proper theme if Google's copyright policy permits it.

Meanwhile, on an unrelated note... you seem to be fairly adept at web styling and design. Ever thought about making a custom vBulletin style for a humble web community that might be thinking about a change?

Never skinned vBulletin.. but that's never stopped me before! Gimme a day or two, I'll look into it and see if I can figure it all out.

Haha, very cool. Let me know if you think it might be doable.

I've had a massive creative slump lately, I have no idea what is going on.

I made two banners and a quick set of forum buttons.. but nothing beyond that. I will once I auctually snap out of this graphics funk. O.o

I like what you've done, especially that first banner, but I think the lettering needs more work. For one thing, I think "Forums" should be smaller than "DannyStewart.com," but more generally than that, it needs to look a little more sophisticated than just plain text over top of an image. It should feel a little more integrated. Embossing or drop shadows or color gradients... that sort of thing.

Still, I very much appreciate what you've done, and this is still something I'm very interested in exploring.

Oh, don't get me wrong I know how simple they are. That's why I hesitated in posting them.

I'll show off some other ideas later, though, once more work has gone into them.

Like I said, it's much appreciated! I hope my comments didn't come off too harshly.

Sometimes simple works best anyway.

Just realised I didn't post my C+C.

Love the first banner, nice and colourful.
Second one is a bit "meh". It doesn't capture my imagination.

I'm not really sure what to make of those two buttons! :S

Couldn't sleep, bored. This is what a tired mind creates for amusement.

The strange part is, it actually sums up the forums quite well. Particularly the Keff reference. Mad props to you, sir. You clearly understand this place.

I think you should adopt that as the official logo Danny.
