DannyStewart.com reopens

After over a week of being offline, the DannyStewart.com Forums have finally reopened. I've had a lot of time to consider what changes should be made to the site to prevent some of the incidents the site has experienced in recent weeks. In the end, I've decided that the site should deny guest access and prevent new registrations of any kind indefinitely. I am sure I will lift both of these restrictions at some point in the future, but for now, they will remain, to keep out unwanted visitors to the site.

Additionally, Jez has been promoted from a moderator on the site to an administrator, and Tom (MI7) has been granted moderator privileges. I have discussed this with both of them and I know they are both up to the task. I am also aware that there are others on the site who I'm sure can handle the responsibilities of being a moderator here, but while I want a strong presence of mods and admins, I would like to keep the number proportional and as a result I am not going to begin handing out moderator positions freely.

Still, with all that said and done, let's see if we can try and get this community back to normal. I feel it has deteriorated in the past few weeks, brought down by Daryl and his group of friends, which in turn brought out the worst qualities in the rest of us. Now that they're gone, hopefully things will settle back down here and this community will go back to the fun, relaxed, easygoing place it's always been (or tried to be).

Final word of advice though: Don't forget whose site it is. I expect my authority to be respected -- remember that.

Thanks, and enjoy the site.

It's good to be back, and hopefully everything will be back to how it was. Congratulations to Jez and Tom!

Dang.

Pretty soon, the website of a gaming community/clan I'm a member of will be done. Unfortunately, being an XO, that means I'm gonna have piles of paper work to do every day. Even more once Crysis comes out, lol.

Perhaps I should just forget job hunting.

EDIT: ^^^ZOMG Three Winks in a Row!!! Here comes the star prize: A speed boat. All you need to do is give me your personal and bank account details, as well as those of your spouse.^^^

Um... well, I never said anything about new features, and you shouldn't believe anyone else anyway. If you're not happy, I can always take the site back down.

That said, there is one new feature. The plus boxes next to thread titles when viewing forums. It shows the first post.

You can probably count having Daryl and Co. banned as a feature, too. Pity nobody saw it that way when I introduced it all that time ago ;__;. I was a Nazi.

Is it weird that I went into some kind of withdrawl while this place was gone?
Oh well, good to see it back. Gratz to Jez and MI7. And here I was plotting to gun for RV's old position...
... why are there suddenly private forums? O_o The Radiophonic Workshop and Ask Dominic Glynn don't let you view any of the topics in them.

(Is three smilies in a post with small text mass too many?)

Apparently you're not the only one, so I'd have to say no, it's not weird. Well, not abnormal at least...

A lot of permissions seem to have broken lately. I apologize... just bring them to me as you notice them and I will fix them.

Whoa wait a minute, we now have FOUR admins? I'd have thought that 2 admins and 2 moderators were sufficient. but oh well.

Woah. Four admins? Isn't that going a little overboard, Danny? I can't say I've ever been on a board with more admins than moderators.

Not really worth bitching about, but it is a little odd. You can't promote everyone to staff, Danny...
