New Unreal Mix

Hey guys. Here's a new version of my track "Unreal":

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7058628/Doctor Who - Unreal.mp3

I hope you like it.

More new tracks are incoming...

P.S. There's still no shredding RV sorry.

Edit: Has been updated.

not bad. It sounds really good. May I suggest less cymbals near Middle 8.

Thanks and you may. Cos I've listened to it so many times now I don't really hear the cymbals anymore.

I know what ya mean. I'm a mashup producer, and that happens all the time with me.

Good overall. I'd suggest that the bassline should have a bit more variation (preferably by adjusting the velocities). For example, diddly-dum velocities should be something like 90-80-70-100. That's of course just an example.

The Gold elements also seem taken from another MIDI. I'll be much more interested in hearing mixes from you when they're put together entirely by you and not piece-worked together from other MIDIs. (And I don't mean that in a bad way, I'm just saying it'll be a sign of development and thus make your work a more serious contribution.)

Velocities is something I've only just started to work on in my new tracks and haven't really worked on in "Unreal". I'll dabble a bit on it tonight.

It's my form of sheet music. The midi data that I use never usually stays in the same form as I find it. It's the downside of not being able to play by ear very well without taking months to do a track instead of weeks. I feel the same way about samples. I'd prefer to craft an opening scream myself, but until that day when it is better than the typical doctor who scream, I'll stick to using that sample for instance.

You do realize that I don't play things in by hand either, right? Just use your mouse and draw the notes in.

That's what I did for the MIDIs I gave you and neither of them took more than half an hour.

Yeah I know that but you need to either have the sheet music to know what notes to draw in or be able to hear which notes are being played and then draw them in.

First off, I can't even read sheet music. Second, just play them side by side and match them up. That's how I started.

Ah yes I do that too. And because I have a programmer mentality and a perfectionist I hate doing a side by side "player by ear" construction.

I hate to sound contradictory, but I am a ridiculous perfectionist and also have a programmer mentality. You are failing to convince me that you cannot do exactly what I do.

Ah but I'm older than you and a more experienced programmer, but you have been dabbling in the music game for 5+ years but for me just 3 months. so I win! Simples

My point is not what you can do now, but what you are capable of.

Track updated. I made a few alterations, volume changes and removals. You guys probably won't notice much.
