You can't delete Internet Explorer... it's embedded into Windows.
Thanks for the updates though.

The only way to remove Internet Explorer from Windows is to modify a Windows CD so that it does not install it during the installation of the OS. Once it's there, it's too late. Nothing can be done at that point.

It's a social experiment.

Since the internet explorer core is integrated into explorer.exe, its actually impossible to get rid of it.

Yeah, there's no way to get rid of it without getting rid of the file explorer too.

If you install the OS without IE, then how do you browse the web to download another browser?

I guess you'd also have to modify the CD to install Firefox instead or something.

Not technically true. While they both rely on the same core, they are two distinct processes (IEXPLORE.EXE and EXPLORER.EXE). After removing Internet Explorer from the source CD, IEXPLORE.EXE is no longer available.
Incidentally, it is also possible to remove the IE core from a Windows install. I have never tried this -- presumably it would leave you with a broken EXPLORER.EXE as well.

I include a Firefox installer on the CD. While it is possible to integrate Firefox directly into the OS install, I find that the latest version is never available, so I just include the latest setup file.
