It is extremely difficult to make OSx86 work with all available hardware. Usually some things will just not work no matter what you do (most commonly sound and internet). I have wasted many hours trying to get OSx86 working on various machines. I think the reason Apple doesn't work harder to shut down OSx86 is because all it really does is show people how awesome Mac OS X is (albeit in a mostly buggy state due to it being patched in many places) and make them want to get a real Mac.
OSx86 is definitely NOT for the computer illiterate.

Second of all, Apple has very strict requirements about what OS you can install using Boot Camp. It MUST be a 32-bit version of Windows XP SP2 or Vista. No exceptions.
